Why Conservative States Exists

A constitutional republic does not function on autopilot. It depends on informed, engaged citizens who understand what their government is doing and are willing to participate in shaping it.

State legislatures pass thousands of bills each year — many of which receive little meaningful scrutiny. When legislation moves quickly and citizens lack clear, principled analysis, engagement declines. And when engagement declines, representation weakens.

Conservative States exists to strengthen the connection between citizens and their state government. Gary Humble is the founder and CEO of Conservative States and the founder of Tennessee Stands, which he launched in 2020. Under his leadership, Tennessee Stands grew into the largest grassroots conservative network in the state, equipping citizens with tools and information to engage effectively in public policy.


Since 2020, Tennesseans have sent more than one million emails to state legislators through the Tennessee Stands advocacy platform — demonstrating the impact of informed, organized civic engagement. Gary’s work is focused on strengthening citizen participation and restoring constitutional self-government at the state level.
